Kampgrounds of America Barrie is located on 3138 Penetanguishene Rd. in Springwater, ON. The park does not have lakeside access but includes a pond (pictured) and numerous amenities to keep you entertained all weekend long. We visited on May long weekend 2024.
KOA Barrie has been in operation since 1986 after Amy and Tony Raposo saw ads for a campground in Springwater, ON. They bought it for many reasons, including the love of recreation the both of them share. They purchased it under a KOA deal, and it has been owned and operated by them ever since.
The name "Barrie" comes from the nearby city, which comes from Sir Robert Barrie, a former leader of Canadian Naval Forces.
Barrie KOA offers:
- swimming in two large pools
- sports like volleyball, basketball, gaga ball, horseshoes, jumping pads, etc
- fishing in the pond
- mining at the mining attraction centre
- two high quality playgrounds
The trail at KOA Barrie is:
- Nature Trail ~1km easy; this trail meanders through a dense woodland.
After driving in off of Penetanguishene Road, you'll see the store on the left and a small parking lot. You'll see the main section amenities on the left and sites emerge on the right. Continue straight. Go left to the Lower Section or stay right for the Upper Section. Go down the hill and see a large pond on the left hand side and continue straight, possibly passing some fisherman. After passing a large white building, you'll be in the final campground section. Host a game of gaga ball in the pit. Either bring your own ball or ask for one (free) at the Prentice Hall.
We day-tripped to Springwater P.P. The park sucked, but we scratched it off of our bucket list 🤷.

A nice park. Nothing too crazy but a solid private campground experience in a charming farming area. I'd give it a 6.5/10 for all of the amenities.
