This park does not usually offer overnight camping. Check the website or call the park to check for availability.
Egan's Campground is located on 4159 Simcoe County Rd 50 in Loretto, ON. The park is on the Sheldon Creek and Nottawasaga River and has great access and views of each. This park does not usually offer overnight camping, you must either own a seasonal or have connections. I have visited this park extensively as my parents formerly had a seasonal campsite here.
Egan's Campground was originally owned by John Rose and his family, under the name "Rose's" or "Rosie's" Campground. In December 1997, the Egan family purchased the land, renaming the campground Egan's. At the time of purchase, there was only the pool for amenities. There was also no footbridge. After purchase, the new owners added 3 footbridges, but removed two due to city guidelines. After the addition of hydro and water hookups to many of the campsites, the addition of the playground, the addition of the basketball court, the removal of campsites on the "third side" (on the south side of the Nottawasaga River), Sheldon Creek bank refinement, and the alteration of the main road, we met Egan's Campground as we know it today.
Egan is the last name of the family who own and operate the camp.

Egan's Campground offers:
- basketball courts and soccer fields
- swimming in the pool or one of 2 rivers
- great access to watch salmon spawning
- tubing downstream
- so-called "duck races", where folks around the campground race rubber ducks down the Sheldon Creek
- a community firepit where you might catch me playing guitar
- lots of organized and unorganized activities at the rec hall and store
- dart leagues throughout the season
- bingo, euchre, rummoli, and poker games organized
There are no hiking trails at Egan's. Hike at nearby Earl Rowe.
After entering the main entrance, you'll pass by some campsites before arriving at the store. Check in and take a picture of the map. If your site is in Northside Campground, go back out the exit and go in the north gate. If not, continue straight. You'll see Main Road sites on the left and Pines/Eastside Campground sites straight ahead. Turn right onto Willow Road and see Treeline/Maple Lane sites on the first right, Newfie's Corner on the second right, a frog pond after Newfie's Corner, and Riverside at the end of the road. Don't forget newly developed Summerside on the left! See the maps below for more detail.
Note that the photos in this section are not explicitly from this park, they are good photos of species that live here.
Atlantic Salmon
Flowers - at the community garden or in the forest
Tall pines and paper birches
Weeping willows
Contact the park office at eganscampground.ca to know whether or not overnight sites are available.
Head down to the Nottawasaga River or the footbridge over Sheldon Creek in the fall to watch the salmon make their way upstream to spawn.
Golf at a nearby course - Silver Brooke, Nottawasaga Valley, and Beeton Golf are solid choices (Beeton is the cheapest).
Ask who made the park map on the table at the park office (it was me).

The highlights of Egan's are all in the main section. When you enter the park, they're right across from the bridge and the store. Not only is there many large playing fields for soccer, baseball, and football; there's also a large playground (pictured right), a saltwater pool, a rec hall with organized and unorganized activities, as well as a basketball/hockey court, and even the park washrooms and rock snake. The rock snake is exactly what the name suggests - an initiative by campers at the park to paint rocks and make the longest snake possible. You should be spending majority of your time at Egan's at this main section - it's got it all.
I'm super biased towards this park as I know everybody here and I grew up here - so expect a high rating. As much as this park has no direct water access (for swimming/boating), I love the family-oriented, small park style camping. I will dock points for the no water access, but it's still an 8/10 - if it's what you're looking for.
