Bayfort Campground is located in Midland, ON, on the scenic Georgian Bay. The park is a popular destination for seasonal and transient campers to go and enjoy sunsets and the warm waters of cottage country. The campground is directly adjacent to the Wye Heritage Marina, as well as Sainte-Marie among the Hurons and the Martyrs' Shrine. I have visited multiple times, but most recently in July 2025.
In 1945, the Ogden family purchased 32 acres of land on the Georgian Bay, just outside of Midland. It was bought for just $500, which is worth about $8,000 nowadays (which is still a very low price). The first house was built this very same year as purchase, being the house directly to the left of the modern-day office. It was soon opened for camping.
I believe "Bayfort" is just a made up name because the park is located on the Georgian Bay. Email me if I'm wrong.

Bayfort offers:
- a clean and well-located sandy beach
- two playgrounds, the larger of which near the beach
- basketball nets, horseshoe pits, and a volleyball court
- a large snack bar and recreation hall (pictured left)
- located directly adjacent to Maple Canadian Pub and the Wye Heritage Marina (see TIPS and ADVICE)
There are no hiking trails. Nearby, the Wye Marsh has many.
Taking a slight right off of Odgen's Beach Road, and you'll enter the park. On your right is the dump station and trash disposal, with the gates ahead. The office is to your left. Passing the gate, the main amenities are fairly centralized. So, the beach, volleyball courts, main playground, horseshoe pits, basketball nets, and snack bar are all to your left. The only amenities elsewhere would be the smaller playground, located on Back Forty Road, and the washrooms, on Najbor Road. See the map here to locate sites.

Come here not expecting a relaxing experience - this is very a partying park (usually relatively tame, but it's sometimes rowdy).
Booking sites is relatively easy, as all sites are similar and well located.
Have a beach day - well maintained and warm waters.
Go to the snack bar and order a poutine with extra gravy (ask for extra or it'll be dry).
Go to the snack bar regardless, as the prices aren't bad comparing to most other snack bars I've seen.
Consider restaurants - the Maple Canadian Pub is nearby, but it's expensive. Midland is nearby, with other options.
Day trip to nearby Martyrs' Shrine, or Sainte-Marie among the Hurons.
Mixed in with the fairly standard recreation hall is the snack bar - also known as "The Fort Fish And Chips". Being a one-man operation, the bar can get busy, but it's not without reason. It's well located (beside the beach and playground), offers decent prices, and offers fresh and hot food. If you're having a beach day, feel free to stop over here, because I do recommend.
I liked this park a lot and the location is spectacular. There's stuff to do, decent scenery, and again, great location. It's hard to explain this park, it's just alright to me, and I would probably go again. An 8/10 private campground for sure.
